intrinsic participation
Participation is not optional. We all participate in the web of life simply by breathing, drinking & eating, excreting. And in social, political and economic life just by going about our lives. Even the mass of our bodies as we move them about has some effect on the Earth's movement.
I don't recall when/where I first ran into this explicitly, probably some connection with Tom. who has been writing about it very recently (2021):
